A very fine pair of 19th century Irish George II style wingback chairs upholstered in a silk demask, the substantial cabriole front legs with naturalistic ball and claw feet and beautifully carved with masks to each knee overlapping the deep and curved front apron, centred by a mask. The tall back with tapered shoulders, the wings tapering to join the outswept arms. The rear cabriole legs again with naturalistic ball and claw feet and carved masks raked back, the side aprons are serpentine shaped are co-joined by serpentine shaped offset box stretcher with scallop shell crest to centre.
